Phanteks Phakes Alder Lakes in New CPU Cooler
Purveyor of phancy cases and coolers, Phanteks announced on Monday its new Glacier One 360MPH closed-loop liquid CPU cooler for Intel’s upcoming Alder Lake platform. Or did it?
In and excellent example of “was and will make me ill”, the firm announced its Glacier One 360MPH (3x120mm) for LGA 1700 processors, as a series member with the Glacier One 240MPH (2x120mm). Both models include all the popular brackets for all popular AMD (Socket AM4, sTRX4, TR4) and Intel (LGA 115x, 1366, 2011, 2011-3, 2066, 1200) desktop processors. As for LGA 1700, those who purchase the cooler before the firm adds the new bracket will be eligible to receive a free one. Several of its competitors have used similar “will support” announcements in the past without excluding the word “will”. To the best of our knowledge, all have followed through on these offers.
The Glacier One 240MPH is already available at stores for $149.99, and given the $40 price difference already shown in the earlier black (MP) models we expect the 3-fan Glacier One 360MPH to show up soon for around $190.
Based on the Asetek Gen7 pump, Phanteks adds a magnetically-attached top cover with infinity mirrors and a set of digitally addressable RGB LED fans. Fan lighting can be handled by Phantek’s own D-RGB controller or the integrated controllers of motherboards that have ARGB headers.
