Newegg has announced a senior discount on Hynix’ aging Platinum P41 2TB drives which had stubbornly clung to its premium pricing despite offering similar performance to some of its competitor’s more-recent mainstream offerings. That one of the discounts put these at value parity with parts that were designed for value supremacy at least seems encouraging.

In particular, those who don’t mind accepting the drive with a PS5-specific heatsink will find it priced at only $135. That’s $115 off the full price. Heck, it’s $40 cheaper than Newegg’s sale price for its drive-only package. The best part is that you don’t even need to use the Haechi H01 heatsink to take advantage of the combo deal.
