Crucial Announces Faster Internal, Bigger External SSDs at Computex 2025
Crucial announced its fastest-yet T700-series Gen 5 PCIe NVMe drive (i.e., PCIe 5.0 x4 on M.2) alongside its biggest-yet USB Gen2x2 drive at Computex 2025. Then again, its intro video indications that only its little 1TB T710 is able to exceed the 14.5Gbps of its previously reviewed T705 at 2TB.

With that in mind, “Quickest” would better describe the 2 and 4TB models as the T710 leaps to an incredible 2.2M reads per second, up from the previous T705’s 1.55M. Perhaps just as important to notebook at game console users is that its big power reduction comes with an equally significant cooling requirement reduction: The heatsinked T710 is shorter than the T705 even after adding its new style enhancement LED, and the version without the sink is still noticeably thinner due to its IC’s all being moved to the top side of the circuit board.

Crucial also brought big news to those who aren’t quite ready to open up their PCs with its updated X10, which pairs up to twice the capacity with 3/5 the warranty of its previously reviewed X10 Pro.

We of course are assuming that at any matching capacity, (1, 2 or 4TB), the non-pro will probably be cheaper than the X10 Pro. And since these are launching almost immediately, we’re hoping to have a review up for you next month.
