Summer Deals Pit Id-Cooling Against Scythe
Two CPU cooling deals with nearly 25% savings pit rising star ID-Cooling against the venerable Scythe for a portion of your build’s budget: As is often the case, the staring ID-Cooling tries to undercut the Scythe model on price, while Scythe offers a bit more surface area to convince buyers that it might cool better.
Neither company has submitted samples, so the only thing we have to go with is hands-on experience with previous models where the newer brand tended to overperform expectations. That is to say, while one might expect the larger single-fan model’s six heatpipes to give it an edge, the five-pipe model’s second fan is just as likely to produce low temperatures. And, at its $35 sale price, Id-Cooling’s model is $18 cheaper than the $53 sale-priced Scythe.
Both manufacturers have been invited to compete, but by the time we have any results the discounts will have expired. Since both coolers support all recent Intel and AMD consumer processors, we’ll take all bets regarding the winner.
